Ballerina Cast and Characters Explained

Coming right out of the John Wick universe, Ballerina is all set to prove itself a game-changer in the world of action. Unlike the John Wick film series, the spin-off is a female-driven movie that sees a woman named Eve Macarro in the lead role. It also features a cameo from Keanu Reeves, the original John Wick, and here’s all you need to know about its cast of Ballerina and the various characters we’ll see in the upcoming movie.

Eve Macarro is the protagonist of Ballerina, the female-driven action movie in the John Wick franchise. After her father is murdered, she is taken by the Director, who trains her to become a top-tier combatant. She eventually transforms into a lethal weapon who won’t stop without killing those responsible for her family’s destruction.

Ballerina is yet to arrive in the global theatres, but the early reviews already hint that the film is a masterpiece. Impressed by Ana de Armas’s versatility, critics have started calling her a ‘badass’ actress. Cinephiles might remember her from the sci-fi 2017 film Blade Runner 2049 and the murder mystery film Knives Out, which was released in 2019.

Victoria Comte as Young Eve

Victoria Comte plays a significant role in making fans connect to Eve by portraying her younger version in the flashbacks. She actually lays the foundation by allowing the audience to witness the early life of the Ballerina’s protagonist.

Now, you might wonder, where have you seen Victoria before? She is an actress who has previously catered to both English and French audiences. Some of the renowned projects featuring her are The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and Inès et Yvan, L’Amour sur un fil, which were released in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

Anjelica Huston as the Director

The Director is a returning character from previous John Wick movies who was initially introduced to us in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum in 2019. She is the strict head of the criminal organization Ruska Roma’s New York branch, which appears as a ballet school to keep its image clean. However, it is actually a crime syndicate that trains assassins. The Director plays a huge role in Eve’s transformation from a naive girl to a skilled assassin. She is also the one who trained John Wick in the past, and now, it’s time for her to give another lethal fighter to the underworld.

Anjelica Huston is an award-winning actress who has contributed heavily to the film industry since 1969. Beyond acting, she has also directed some top-notch projects, including Bastard Out of Carolina, The Darjeeling Limited, and Agnes Browne. The Tinker Bell CGI-animated film franchise also saw her as a voice actor.

Lance Reddick as Charon

Here comes another returning character from John Wick’s world. Charon is the loyal concierge of the Continental Hotel who observes the situation and goes beyond his limits to make sure that the hotel’s rules are being followed. He is the loyal employee of the hotel, whom Winston Scott calls his right-hand man, as Charon never fails to fulfill his duties.

Lance Reddick plays Charon in John Wick and Ballerina. Like William Bludworth, whose final performance was seen in Final Destination: Bloodlines, Ballerina turned out to be Reddick’s last project before his passing in 2023. He has appeared in some of the most prominent projects, including Netflix’s Resident Evil, Bosch, and more.

Gabriel Byrne as the Chancellor

The Chancellor is a new character who has no experience in John Wick’s universe. But he has been the greatest addition to Ballerina, who tries every possible way to make Eve’s quest for revenge way more challenging. He is the main antagonist of the film, and he leads a group of the most skilled assassins in the Austrian mountains.

The 75-year-old Irish actor Gabriel Byrne portrays the Chancellor in the film. The actor has previously won several accolades, including a Golden Globe. He has garnered a huge fandom with his performances in Hereditary, Mad to Be Normal, and many more.

Norman Reedus as Daniel Pine

With the spin-off film, Daniel Pine enters the massive world of John Wick. Official sources describe him as a ‘mysterious man’ with unclear ambitions. The trailers do not reveal much about the character; they only hint that Pine can either be an ally to Eve or an enemy.

Norman Reedus was offered the role of an unnamed character in Ballerina in December 2022; later, the creators revealed it was Daniel Pine, whom the actor will bring to life. Norman Reedus is popularly known for his portrayal of Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead.

Keanu Reeves as John Wick

This character doesn’t need any introduction, though, but for the newcomers, he’s the one who started the whole journey. It all began when some spoiled boys stole John Wick’s car and killed his dog. Since then, John has killed several powerful and influential people of the High Table. And now, it seems like John is all set to share the screen and the spotlight with Eve in Ballerina.

Keanu Reeves is the one and only John Wick, and he is returning in the upcoming Ballerina movie. The actor has done a commendable job as Wick and helped make this character as legendary as the Matrix’s Neo.

Ian McShane as Winston Scott

Winston Scott helps Eve enter the underworld of assassins. He is acquainted with the girl’s early life and will play a key role in the upcoming film. He is the charismatic manager of The Continental Hotel, who has previously appeared in John Wick films and The Continental: From the World of John Wick, which serves as a prequel and spin-off to the main storyline. You can call him a versatile character, who at times appeared as a friend and a mentor to John Wick, but also turned into his adversary occasionally. Now, it’s intriguing to see what the character brings to the table in Ballerina.

Ian McShane is an English actor who has impressed the fandom with his incredible acting since 1962. Some of his notable projects are The Wild and the Willing, Hot Rod, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and John Wick, of course.

Now, the list of Ballerina cast ends here. As the film is nearing its release date, let’s wait and see what the above-mentioned characters will bring to the table.
